Underground Fiberglass
Advantages:
- Can be an economical underground storage solution for large volumes of water
- Complete protection from any UV sunlight degradation over time
- Available in a wide variety of sizes and capacities
- Provides strength and durability for years of reliable performance
- Provides a constant temperature of stored water year round
- Fiberglass is inert to soil compounds which can degrade other tanks manufactured with other materials
Disadvantages:
- This style of cistern can be very expensive at lower volumes of water storage
- Excavation for cistern can be difficult in some areas
- Manufacturing and distribution of underground fiberglass tanks can be localized, meaning they may be difficult to find in your area or costly to ship from their manufacturing facilities
- Even though underground fiberglass tanks come in a variety of sizes, they are set sizes due to manufacturing efficiencies so there are “gaps” in their product sizing
