Advantages:
- Can be an economical storage solution for larger water volume needs
- Variety of manufacturers means a variety of styles and looks
- Conical, grain silo roofs and low slope, domed roofs available
- Complete protection from any UV sunlight degradation over time
- Rainwater is contained inside poly liner inside cistern
- Provides strength and durability for years of reliable performance
- Poly liner can be food grade, NSF approved for drinking water storage
- Corrugated metal tanks are easy to install on difficult properties since they are built onsite, piece by piece
- Shipping can be cost-effective since the tank kits are flat-packed and shipped to site
Disadvantages:
- Tank panels can dent easily so care has to be taken during installation of tank
- Can have a higher cost-per-gallon in the lower volume sizes when compared to other tank material options
- Even though these tanks are galvanized, they can still rust. Keeping water from accumulating around the bottom of tank will help reduce rusting over time and the use of a sacrificial anode may help.
