City of Round Rock Rainwater Harvesting Rebate
The City of Round Rock Water Conservation Department is offering a rainwater rebate of $0.50 per gallon, up to $600 in rainwater collection system rebates to their water customers. Round Rock has specific guidelines for the rebate so you should definitely understand all of the requirements before purchasing any rainwater harvesting system.
Some requirements include:
- Rebate is $0.50 per gallon of storage capacity of the barrel(s).
- Rebate is 50% of the purchase price of pad material, overflow, first flush, and pump to distribute the water.
- Rebate is 25% of the cost (up to $200) of gutters, as part of a rainwater collection project. Rebate is only for gutters connected to a rainwater collection project.
- Maximum rebate amount is $600 per water account, per year for the items mentioned above. If additional barrel(s) are purchased, you can apply again for the new capacity. The rebate is NOT for the same barrels year after year; it is for expansions or additions to the system.
- Only newly purchased barrels are eligible. Used, repurposed, recycled, or self-made barrels are not eligible.
- Applicant must be a direct City of Round Rock water customer in good standing. (MUD customers are not eligible)
- Rainwater collected will only be used for non-potable purposes and not connected to the City’s water supply.
- An itemized receipt must be submitted with the application within 60-days of installation. Receipt must include date, vendor name and address, amount paid, and capacity of the barrel(s) and any other applicable materials.
- Applicant is responsible for obtaining HOA approval, if applicable. HOAs cannot prohibit rainwater harvesting in the City of Round Rock; however, they may dictate where the barrels may be located on your property.
- Rebates are available until funds have been expended.
